Fire forces closure near Hawaii’s largest children’s hospital

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A fire at Kapiolani Medical Center forced Honolulu police to shut down Punahou Street Monday evening.
Firefighters rushed to a the scene shortly after 6 p.m.
HFD says a wood frame was smoldering in a duct, but crews were able to extinguish it in about an hour.
While HFD responded, HPD shut down Northbound lanes of Punahou Street from Beretania Street to Bingham Street.
No injuries were reported.
A damage estimate and cause are pending.
